Apple TV4k not recognizing iPhone 13 Pro for FaceTime (continuity camera)

I recently downloaded iOS 17 and TvOS for my Apple tv4k (3rd Gen). The FaceTime app does not recognize my phone to initiate a call. I get the “other” option, scan the QR code, but still does not connect.


steps taken:

  • connected to the same iCloud account on both phone and tv
  • continuity camera setting on
  • tried restarting decices
  • tried restarting FaceTime


the only thing I can think of is the Apple TV is connected with Ethernet and phone is on WiFi (same network).


anything else I can try?

After a week of tinkering I solved my issue by doing a full reset of my iPhone WITHOUT using a back-up when I restored.

If I reset and used a back-up, it still wouldn’t work.


it also solved my Apple Watch walkie talkie issues
