Hello purificación273,

VirtualBox version 7.0.10 no longer includes macOS / Arm64 (M1 and M2) but version 7.0.8 is still available and does include support for M1/M2 processors: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Download_Old_Builds_7_0.

The error message indicates that you are trying to install an incompatible version of VirtualBox onto your silicon Mac.

Note that that page describes the support as "Developer preview for macOS / Arm64 (M1/M2) hosts" – which indicates that we're talking about alpha-test level stuff that could be chock full of bugs and limitations.

What utilities?

VMWf has all the utilities required to make Windows 10 work just fine.

On an Apple-Silicon-based Mac, like the one the OP is asking about?

I believe that the OP would need to purchase Windows 11 for ARM from Microsoft for use with VMware Fusion (even if the personal-use version of VMware Fusion itself is free). There used to be a Windows Insider preview build of Windows 10 for ARM, but that was a beta-test OS, and now that Windows 11 is out, I'm not sure if you could get that from Microsoft any more.

The OP won't be able to install and run Intel-based operating systems like off-the-shelf copies of Windows 10.

"What programs can I run with VMware Fusion?

On Intel Macs, VMware Fusion lets you run macOS, Windows, Linux and other x86-based operating systems as virtual machines. On Apple Silicon Macs, Fusion supports the Arm editions of the most popular operating systems including Windows 11 …"

To have Windows System in MacOS to can apply programs incompatibles with MacOS

To run Windows in a virtual machine on a M2-based Mac, you are going to need Windows for ARM. Windows for ARM has support for running many Wintel applications under emulation/translation – but there still may be some incompatibilities and limitations.

Microsoft's Support article talks about "Windows 11 and Parallels Desktop", but I think the considerations would be pretty much the same for using Windows on an Apple Silicon Mac with the free version of VMware Fusion.

yes, VirtualBox 7.0.8 does purport to contain support for Apple-silicon Macs. It is labeled everywhere with Beta software designation.

I installed it and tried to create a new virtual machine booting MacOS 10.6 off CD. It appeared to start up the virtual Mac, read the CD, put a few early MacOS startup message on the screen, a row of dots...... and then nothing more. No error messages, no progress, NADA.

Ok, I try a simpler case -- a pre-existing Virtual box machine from version 6, supposedly compatible. Same result, it starts to boot up, puts up some early MacOS messages, a row of dots.... then just stops in its tracks.

My conclusion (and I expect VirtualBox conclusion as well) is "Not ready for Prime Time." the next version, 7.0.10 makes NO claims of Apple-silicon support AT ALL.
