I have downloaded "MacOS / Intel hosts" version of virtual box but when trying to install, it says "The installer has detected an unsupported architecture. VirtualBox only runs on the amd64 architecture"

An Intel version of anything will not work on M1 / M2 Macs.

As for your Mac Mini please refer to M1/M2 Mac 7.0 Beta Status

If you are looking for a virtual machine program, you might want to take a look at:

Note that on a M2 Mac mini, these can only run ARM-based operating systems: e.g., Windows 11 for ARM. If you install Windows 11, you will have to pay Microsoft for it separately. You may encounter some emulation/translation overhead, and some limitations, when running off-the-shelf Windows software built for use on Intel chips.
