AirTag chirps when moved

If i move my AirTag it chirps. Won’t this alert the criminal who have taken my belonging it’s attached to? Yes then what’s the point?

Unknown Airtag connected with you I recently got an alert that an unknown airtag was connected to me and even days later it still appears on my items tab in the Find My app, however I no longer have the ability to play the sound and the map hasn't been updated since. The tracking map is no longer active, and shows that it tracked me all the way to my home from work. The alert still says "First seen..." I want to figure out if the owner is still tracking me as I believe this was nefariously placed on my car. My question is, if it is still appearing on my Find My app and listed as "Items detected with you" is this Airtag still tracking me on the owners phone? Also, does the item automatically get removed from the Find My app once it is no longer tracking you or does it remain? Does the owner have the capability to stop me from seeing the active map while they continue to track me?

That’s what it’s supposed to do if your iPhone is not nearby.

It has nothing to do with criminals. (The criminal will receive an alert on his/her phone too)

It has everything to to to alert unsuspecting individuals that they may be tracked.
