When I try to reply to a fitness notification from one of my shared friends, the choices in are in Portuguese! The only language on my phone and watch are English. And the sharing notification is the only place I have found Portuguese to be the default - messages in the watch are English, etc.
Do I need to reset the watch and the re-sync with my phone? Is there a less drastic option?

If that doesn't help out, do you happen to use third-party keyboards on your iPhone? If so, you can use the following to remove any third-party keyboards you may be using to test if that resolves it: Add or change keyboards on iPhone
In case the issue continues to occur, do you know if the language selected on your friend's device may be selected to this language? The more we can understand about what's happening, the better we can assist.

Yes, both devices are fully updated: iPhone on iOS16.6; Watch on watchOS9.6.1.
Yes, English is the only language on both devices (as shown in pictures)
There are no 3rd party keyboards on the iPhone. For a short period I did have Portugese as a keyboard (apple), but that has been removed - as you can see from picture).
Since it occurs on ALL fitness notifications (several friends), the issue must be on my device.
I have completely reset the watch - setting up as a new watch. The issue continues which leads me to believe it is an iPhone issue (not a watch issue). And it ONLY occurs when responding to a Fitness notification - also photos for this.
I look forward to hearing additional options to correct this persistent problem.
