Sound for iphone Messages is intermittent

The sound on my iPhone 13 is intermittent for Messages. I can receive a message sound when someone texts me and then one minute later (with my Messages still not open - in other words, I haven't read the first message yet), someone else will text and I get NO Sound for the next message. This has been going on since I got the phone (one year now). I've been to the Apple expert desk and they told me they reloaded my software, but this is still continuing. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a flaw in the iphone 13? Is there some way to have Apple fix the problem and push out a software fix for those of us with this annoying flaw? There are MANY times, I have no idea people have been texting me because my phone is not playing the Message sounds.

There are a few reasons why you might not be getting notifications on your iPhone. Here are some of the most common causes:

  • Do Not Disturb mode is turned on. Do Not Disturb mode silences all notifications, so make sure it's turned off. You can do this by swiping down from the top of your screen and tapping the crescent moon icon.
  • You're in a Focus mode. Focus modes are like Do Not Disturb mode, but they can be customized to block notifications from specific apps or people. To check if you're in a Focus mode, swipe down from the top of your screen and tap the Focus icon.
  • You've turned off notifications for a specific app. You can turn off notifications for individual apps in the Settings app. To do this, go to Settings > Notifications and scroll down to the app you want to change. Toggle the Allow Notifications switch to the off position.
  • Your iPhone is in Airplane mode. Airplane mode turns off all wireless connections, including cellular data and Wi-Fi. This means that you won't be able to receive notifications if your iPhone is in Airplane mode.
  • Your iPhone is not connected to the internet. If your iPhone is not connected to the internet, you won't be able to receive notifications from apps that need to connect to the internet to send notifications.
  • Your iPhone is not up to date. Sometimes, software updates can fix bugs that can cause notification problems. Make sure your iPhone is up to date by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

If you've checked all of these things and you're still not getting notifications, you can try restarting your iPhone. If that doesn't work, you can contact Apple support for help.

Have you enabled Scheduled Summary?

Settings > Notifications > [Select the App that you are having trouble receiving immediate notifications]

See the pic below for a few examples. Please select immediate delivery.

Go to Settings and tap Notifications. Select an app under Notification Style. Under Alerts, choose the alert style that you want. If you turn on Allow Notifications, choose when you want the notifications delivered — immediately or in the scheduled notification summary.

I appreciate the information, but none of these apply. It can be the same people texting me only seconds later and there is no sound to announce the messages. I don't have notifications set to "hide" or "scheduled" (I didn't know about those features, so thank you). I might get a message (with sound) from my Brother one day, but the next day his message will arrive silent. I've been to an Apple store for support. They couldn't find anything wrong with my settings or to explain the problem. They reloaded my software and still I have the same results. Sometimes it's all working fine. The next day, I'm missing text sounds (same people texting me from one day to the next). I restart my phone every day (that does help if I notice all my messages coming in silent. A restart will result in new messages having sound). Sometimes I'm in my car with the phone plugged into the charger and a text will come in, but there is no sound to announce the text. I think my very expensive phone is defective. Apple has become disappointment.
