2023 Macbook pro Sound issues

Hi have a new 2023 16" Macbook Pro M2 replacing a 2019 16" Macbook Pro i9. On the 2019, I selected sound output to my Samsung TV and all was well. On the 2023, the sound continues to play through the Macbook Pro speakers even though it is set correctly to the Samsung TV. Not sure what to do here since it worked very well on the 2019 and not at all on the 2023. Any ideas where I can look to fix this? It is exactly the same cable as used on my 2019.
