Dolby Vision on Samsung tv throughly Apple TV 4k

Samsung TVs don’t support Dolby vision and support only HDR10 . In the case if I stream a Dolby vision content on a Samsung tv through Apple TV 4K, will Apple TV 4K convert the output format to HDR10 or simply resort it to playing as HDR OR SDR ?

I did read this earlier. But what I’m still not sure is if the content is available only in Dolby vision will apple TV4k 3rd generation automatically convert it to HDR10+ for a Samsung tv that supports only HDR and HDR10+ ?

There is no conversion. Content may be available in multiple formats, and only the highest quality may be listed. If your setup is capable of HDR10+, then it will request that. Failing that, it will request HDR10 (HDR). Failing that, it will play the SDR version. Any of these streams have to be available on the server that is handling the streaming content.

Hello Saaatzy,

This page can help out with providing some helpful information regarding HDR, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision on the Apple TV 4K: About 4K, HDR, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision on your Apple TV 4K - Apple Support

On here the page will note, "HDR10+ is a supported format only on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation)."

Depending on the model the TV can attempt to use SDR, HDR, or HDR10+ instead, depending on the content being streamed.

Cheers.
