Siri unable to add reminders 80% of the time, replies with 'sorry, you'll have to continue in the app"

I utilize reminders all the time and until a few months ago I could easily add a reminder by saying 'Siri, remind me to pick up dry cleaning at 5PM" etc. But more recently Siri is unable to add a reminder more than 80% of the times I try to set on via Siri voice. I have a great internet connection and able to use Siri for other things, turning on/off or setting alarms or creating a calendar item. But the reminders are not working and I would like help resolving this so I can go back to using Siri.

In most cases Siri responds immediately when I say Hey Siri, and when I speak the reminder details I get a response "working on that", then a few seconds later "still working...", then after that Siri says "Sorry, you'll have to continue in the app".

Thanks!

Thanks Ben_Z1, I keep my iPhone up to date w/ the iOS releases as they come out and this issue has been consistently happening through several updates. I will reach out to Apple Support to see if they can help resolve things.

Hi there davegattoappleID,

If you are having issues using Siri to set a reminder in the Reminders app, first ensure your iPhone is fully updated. This installs feature improvements and fixes that can resolve unexpected behavior like this. These steps from Update your iPhone or iPad show how to back up and update:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If this continues after updating your iPhone, then reach out to Apple Support next. They would be the best equipped to look into this issue further with you. Contact them here: Get Support

Cheers!
