usb accessory needs power

when trying to connect a superdrive (CD player) to my new MacBook that only has USB-C, I get an error message stating USB Accessory Needs Power, Connect "Apple USB SuperDrive" to a USB port on this Mac. Apple doesn't put USB ports on MacBooks now but ive purchased the usb-c multi adapter from apple (USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple (UK)) ive plugged both power lead and superdrive into this and no luck


can anyone assist on a fix.


i have another anker adapter and same thing happening

Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple


Under System Requirements, it states the following information:


Compatible with the following computers:
*The Apple USB SuperDrive is compatible with Mac models from 2008 and later that don't have a built-in optical drive.
*MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models with USB-C ports require a USB-C to USB adapter (sold separately) to use Apple USB SuperDrive.


Additionally, you might also want to review the "Compatibility" section as well. There you'll see a list of all Mac models that work with this accessory. If you don't see your Mac listed, it won't be compatible. We hope this information helps you.
