connecting super drive to MACBOOK PRO (purchased in 2021)

I have a Macbook Pro 16" (2021 version). It has no cd drive or USB ports. I purchased an Apple USB SuperDrive, which needs a USB port. I purchased a USB adapter that plugs into the side of my computer and then connected the SuperDrive. When I connected the SuperDrive I get a message that says that it needs more power and to connect it to the USB port on my computer. I DON'T HAVE ONE ON THIS COMPUTER! The only option I have is to use the adapter. What do I do about this? SuperDrive is rendered useless!

Are you using a hub or a simple adapter? SuperDrive won't work with a hub. My SuperDrive works fine with my MacBook Pro after connecting it with a USB-A (F) to USB-C (M) adapter.

From Apple-

To connect your SuperDrive to a Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, or USB-C port on your Mac, you can use one of these adapters:
- USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter
- USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter
- USB-C to USB Adapter
