blocking pseudo email names

I (we all) receive multiple spam/scam emails per day. Every site I've been to trying to determine how to block these emails is useless. The best way to describe the problem is with an example. So, I get multiple emails from ABC Co. (an example), which I want to stop from arriving in my inbox. Every site I've seen to date shows how to block emails by pressing on the sender's email name and them pressing the "Block this contact" option. This is useless because it doesn't block ABC Co. It on;y blocks the real address. I'll receive multiple emails from ABC Co. every day and every single one of them is in reality from a different email address even though every single one of them says it's from ABC Co. ABC Co. is a pseudo email address. The real address may be something like qiterv7ervcdsodbsifdg@gmail.com one time and will be something different, like 7yenvnwqyqfg@gmail.com the next time, and so on. But the pseudo address remains the same. I want to block any incoming mail that has "ABC Co." in the from field. Otherwise I'm forced to be blocking thousasnds of emails each with a different real address.

By the way, we should also be able to block emails based on the Subject field. I can do both with my mail client but not on my iPad or iPhone.

There must be a way to do this. If not, for shame.

No my client is POP server. I access my mail almost exclusively from that client but both my Apple devices are swamped with spam and when I'm remote from the desktop it is beyond annoying. I would not know how to have my mail client filter the messages to my Apple devices. I get my messages on my desktop from my ISP provider's server and the same messages go to to my Apple devices. The difference being I can filter out pseudo email addresses on my desktop but not on my Apple devices.

I'll check with my provider but if I recall correctly, I moved from IMAP to POP to correct another unrelated problem. However, it appears to me that the solution is being deflected away from Apple towards a third party which does not have this problem. It should be simple to provide the filter options to do this in Apple devices, but it's apparently not.

POP, or more completely POP3, email is an obsolete standard that has no spam blocking features. It was created to allow ONE device to access an email account at a time when there was no such thing as spam; it does not play well if there is more than one device accessing the email account. It was originally released 40 years ago, and has had few updates since then. With a POP account all mail filtering must be done on the server.

I understand, but that's what I'm using. You're still not answering why I can't filter on Apple. With respect, if the finger keeps pointing at my provider's mail server rather than at an Apple solution, this discussion is moot.

iPhones have no built in mail filtering capabilities. You can add 3rd party apps, but even they can’t work with POP accounts because POP does not support folders other than Inbox, Trash and Sent. So there cannot be a junk or spam folder to put rejected messages.

OK, thank you. You've answered the question regarding the status of iPhone built in filtering capabilities and it explains why I've had so much difficulty trying to determine if they did and if so, how to access them. So, this now becomes a wish list - for Apple to provide built in filtering capabilities. I will however take your advice and discuss this with my provider.

Jj is not moot. It is an Apple software issue since the mail app allows this junk email through. Microsoft fixed their issues with advanced options to filter out emails in outlook. Apple has done nothing to enhance their mail app in years. People are tired of excuses start caring about making the online experience enjoyable instead of shrugging off issues as they as someone else’s issue. Take responsibility man!

With respect, I completely disagree.

You admittedly have a problem you would like to solve - blocking spam emails on your Apple devices. Lawrence Finch and I have suggested how to solve it. You seem to have a pre-conceived idea how to solve it ... we're suggesting a way that works.
