Photo Album Custom Sort Option Missing

Faith185, unfortunately you did not address the question from leekirk.

they said “the Custom Sort option does not display.” When we go to “Sort” the option of “Custom” is not there.

I have a shared album with only videos and i can tap the and drag them but they go back to the spot I removed it from. They will not move to the new spot. I want my videos in a particular order of events.

It sounds like you're referring to the custom order option mentioned in Organize and find your photos on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. Right? You should be able to do that using these steps.

"With iOS 14 and later, you can also sort the photos within your albums. Here's how:

1. Go to an album, then tap the More button .
2. Tap Sort, then choose a sorting option, like Custom Order, Oldest to Newest, or Newest to Oldest."

If not, check other devices if available. Does the same happen there? Make sure you are also in an album, not the Library. Does that change the results?

Ipad with IOS 16.5.1: I still do not get the Sort option. Tried all tips that I could find: close app. restart ipad, wait for update of the app in the background (cannot see anything and cannot force the update).

So I have imported folders with photo's via iTunes and these folders appear as Albums in the app. But none of those albums have the sort option under the more...It only shows Filter as one of the new options.

Custom sort is available in albums, but it's not included for Smart Albums, or for those special views like Recents or Library.

In an album, when I need a custom sort, I just grab a picture and drag it to the place I want. You can select several pictures, grab them, and drag them all to a spot between any other two pictures.

Sometimes it's a trick to drag pictures to a position off the screen, but you can make the thumbnails their smallest so you get the most on the screen. You may have to "put them down" at a spot on your way, scroll the screen, and pick them up again. Better: if you're dextrous with a trackpad, you can even scroll and drag at the same time.

In addition: if I manually create an Album on the ipad and move photos from the other ("Itunes") album there I do get the sort option. Unfortunately if I then remove the old album all photos also disappear from the newly created and correct album.

Is there a way to get this solved without having all my albums twice? And even better: can I get rid of Itunes between my Windows 11 laptop and my Ipad and have an easier way of copying over photo's (without storing it on Icloud)
