Photo albums out of order when “adding to album”

Since the 18.3 update, when I try to add a photo from my full collection into an album using the “add to album” button, my list of albums—easily over 200—is not sorted alphabetically by name (or by any other metric I can see), making it very difficult to find the albums I’m looking for.

Searching, I see many complaints about the photos app change since 18.0, but I was good until 18.3. (Not that I loved the other changes, but it was still functional for me until now.) OTOH, I don’t see others describing what I’m experiencing, even since 18.3, so I hope this isn’t a “just me” problem.

The photos/albums still sort properly on my desktop, but that sort doesn’t translate back to my iPhone, like it used to, at least as far as the “add to album” button is concerned. (To be clear, the albums are in order on my phone when I’m looking at the list to view a particular album, but not when I select a photo & hit the “add to album” button.)

Any “me too’s” or suggestions for possible fix?

On my phone, I tap a picture, tap Share and then Add to Album. I get a bunch of folders containing my albums. If I open a folder, then the albums are in exactly the same order as they are on my Mac and at iCloud.com. Here's my September folder from the 2024 folder alongside my iCloud.com sidebar:

When I tap on the album, the picture goes is added.

Do your albums appear ordered at iCloud.com?

Also, I don't understand "The photos/albums still sort properly on my desktop." What is your desktop?
