Apple iPod Hi-Fi A1121 Dock Speaker

Hi,

I have and Apple iPod HiFi speaker which I now connect to my M1 Mac Mini using a USB C to Toslink adapter and then a Mini Toslink Adapter to the to the 3.5mm audio connecter on the Hi-Fi which is also accepts a mini Toslink jack. Takes away any buzz and hum you may get with a standard audio connecter.

If the plug appears to be too small, then perhaps you are using a 2.5mm plug. There are several plug types that may look the same to you, but are in fact different and incompatible.

Make sure that the cable is an audio cable, with a 3.5mm plug. That is, 3.5mm diameter of the plug's "pin".

.. and that it has three separate metal areas along its length. It will be the same size and appearance as the majority of headphone plugs.

That certainly looks like the correct plug.

I suggest that you push on it gently to see if it will go further in. Be careful though, what you need to do is close up the gap between the casing of the speaker and the wider ring of the plug, so that the two are touching. You should hear and feel a slight click as the plug latches home:

if its not going into the port entirely, you may need one with a longer connector or a thinner sheath. Can you post a picture of the cable you are using, and how it looks when connected?

Also, check the port for any debris that may be blocking the connector.

I agree with the fiend above. If there’s nothing inside the port preventing it from going in, then just push it in a bit harder until it clicks.

I would also try to play something and see if works without going all the way. The port may simply not be deep enough, but the connection might be made correctly anyway.

A standard 3.5mm audio connector, like those found on some microphones, headphones, or just regular audio cables.
