My iMac said in order to sync my iPhone 13pro to iMac that I needed to download an app. I clicked on install, the progress bar appeared with a picture of an iPhone "Downloading 1 item" and since then nothing has happened. Progress bar started but has not moved in over an hour with no progress. Also, I have already tried rebooting both my Mac and my iPhone.
I use my Mac to back up my iPhone. When I plug in my phone with the USB cable, I get a message saying that I need to update the software on my Mac so that I can perform a complete backup of my iPhone to my Mac (This happens occasionally) When I am presented with this, I am able to select install and then it normally downloads the updated software and then I can back up my phone. The issue is that it is stuck on downloading the update for my Mac so that I can back up my phone to my Mac.
General synchronization on Apple products is done via a common Apple ID on all devices.
What app are you referring to?
Restart both the iMac and the iPhone, then reconnect them to see if they will sync and backup the iPhone.
