Management of Air Tags Nightmare

I am wondering if there is a way to stop this feature:

To alert people nearby, any AirTag separated for a period of time from its owner will emit a sound when it's moved. If you find an AirTag after hearing it make a sound, you can use any device that has NFC, such as an iPhone or Android phone, to see if its owner marked it as lost and if you can help return it.

I see this feature causing so much confusion on forums; why is my air tag beeping?, why is my air tag constantly beeping?, over and over. It seems the above feature plus the air tag beeps if it has been away from your phone too long" are making people wanting to not use air tags (me too).

My phone is upstairs, my keys downstairs, why in the **** do I need a beep when they get close?. If I actually lose my keys, I will send a signal to the air tag to beep then, when I actually need it. My spouse is constantly getting annoyed at every time we leave the house there is beeping in my wallet air tag, keys, etc.

If there is not a way to turn this feature off, Apple please let us have more option to control air tags!

At this point in time, Apple made this decision to prevent an AirTag from tracking others by (as you and many others) beeping when that AirTag is away from its owner's iPhone. The others suggested the "Notify When Left Behind" option, but unless you know where the AirTag will be, it would be impractical to set up multiple possible locations ... even if that could remedy the situation.

Regardless, you are not talking directly to Apple employees here. We are just fellow Apple-product users. As such, I suggest that you provide you suggestions directly to Apple here: Product Feedback - Apple

Notify me when left behind is off, and if I turn it on, I have my home in the exceptions list.

However, the "feature" that I mentioned above is not the same. The feature is in regard to other people finding an air tag. If the tag is away from an owners device it beeps when "moved". This happens if you have notification off, notify me off, etc. Resetting also has no impact.

So, if you keep all your devices near your phone, you most likely wouldn't get the random beeping. . But if you work from home and keep your phone in your office or pocket, and don't just happen to get near and stay near long enough your key and wallet, (which is only one floor done) you get the beeps. I never go a couple of days without having all the devices together, but still beeping. I am sure there is some time frame, but you would think it would be longer than a day or two.
