I’m trying to cancel a subscription before it charges me on June 9.
When I press the red “cancel subscription” button, it looks like it’s canceling (changes color) but then appears red again and won’t cancel.
I rebooted my phone and tried again but it still won’t work. Never experienced this problem before.

The same thing happened to me a solution I found was to go through my email on my Mac and find the subscription billing then clicking on the "review your subscription" button which took me to the iTunes store section of Apple Music which I was able to cancel all of my subscriptions.
Side note: it may also work on Windows with iTunes I am not too sure though.
Same issue for me. Cannot cancel subscriptions and appears to be a software bug currently 16.5 on iPhone 14 pro max. Seeing this is many other threads on this board starting June 2.
If you are in an Apple Family, make sure that the person who bought the subscription is trying to cancel. I have seen this in other threads frequently, and you may need to contact apple support
