"Read Receipts" turned on but messages only show "Delivered" despite having been read

Same issue with husband’s iPhone SE MMX83LL/A operating 17.2.1. WiFi or Verizon service- still no read receipts for over a week. Have updated OS and rebooted to no avail.

Are you sending SMS or iMessage?

Hi! I am having the same issue and those responses are not applicable to me. My husband has read receipts on his phone, as do several of my friends. Nothing on either end has changed and suddenly I only see “delivered” even when my messages are opened and being read. My husband can be right next to me and open my messages and it never change from “delivered” on my end. This was never an issue before.

I do get iOS beta updates but I had not received one when the “read” disappeared from my end of the conversations. I have since had a new update and I have rebooted my phone but I am still unable to see “read”.

Do you have any other ideas?

myself and my partner had the same thing, other contacts on her phone were showing up as ‘read’ but mine weren’t yet I had ‘send read receipts’ turned on in settings.. I sent texts to other people and it came up read but only showing delivered to my partner.

Solution was going onto messages, tapping on her name/profile where it brings up info and half way down there will be a toggle for send read receipts on… my fat fingers had turned it off by mistake 😂

Im getting exactly the same and it’s so frustrating! I’ve tried troubleshooting my phone and nothing seems to work! This all started with the new updates
