Location not updating on family's iphones and apple watches

My son has an iphone and apple watch with cellular connection. Quite frequently his location is not updating in Find My iPhone. Because he has a disability, it's important I know where he is, which is why I have them in the first place. For example yesterday his phone didn't update all day, and his watch didn't update after about 10:30am. Both have data available on their plans. I have turned location services off and on again. Checked and made sure they are both up to date.

If you are having issues with seeing your son's location, first ensure that you set up location sharing using the steps in this article: Share your location with your family

If that is how you set up location sharing and this continues, next check that the location your son is in has a good cellular data or Wi-Fi connection since the devices not being connected can cause this issue to occur as well.

Useless answer. Obviously it works just not well enough. If it wasn’t set up it wouldn’t work at all.

The real question is why are apple products garbage and the company couldn’t care less about fixing problems.
