Mac mail column widths

I'm on Ventura 13.3.1 and despite my attempts to enlarge the columns for 'from' and 'subject', they keep randomly resetting to tiny columns with lots of white space to the right. how do I resize the columns and tell the software to keep MY sizes instead of its annoying stupid defaults?

first, thanks for the redaction. my bad! second, I've done the drag thing. I keep doing it. I make the 'from'and 'subject' larger, then randomly (or so it seems to me...), the app just resets to the layout pictured. it's not a big deal, I can keep resizing after things snap back, but it does seem to me that once one resizes columns, they ought to stay that way?

This appears to be in Column View of Apple Mail Application

The Vertical Separator Bar between Paper Clip and Size in the Header and Drag it to the Right.

Perform the same Actions on the Other Vertical Separator Bars until the desired Widths has been achieved.

There are Limitations onhow far one can Increase the Width of any Column

ugh. I just recently upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey, under duress! ;) I'm definitely finding the mail app buggy. like, periodically, ALL of my mail folders - not just the ones for mail stored on servers but for mail I have stored in folders on my laptop - show ZERO mail. freaked me out the first time. when I quit mail and reopened, it reappears. but seriously, I almost had a heart attack thinking all of my stored mail would have to be restored from a backup. the Mac o/s used to be so stable, and so superior to ... the competitor... but sadly, there's been a reversion to the mean... :(

Sorry this computer is experiencing such issues leading to the User ( you ) experience being less than idea.

Can only speak to personal experience with Apple Mail Application on 3 different M1 / M2 Apple Silicon computers.

2 of the 3 all started with macOS 11 Big Sur and have each upGraded through macOS 12 Monterey and now with latest version of Ventura 13.4

Have had almost zero issues and any of the machines

The third M2 came with Ventura 13.0 and updated all the way to current 13.4

Again, zero issues

Apple Mail is generally considered good but less robust than some Other Third Party e-mail Clients

Have used Thunderbird from the same Developers as Firefox as example but there are many Others available
