studio display brightness function key not working

I connected my M2 Macbook Pro to studio display. usually i closed the Macbook pro and only use studio display as my monitor. Then i connected with a bluetooth keyboard with mac compatible function key on top such as volume control, keyboard back brightness control.

All other function seem working fine, I can control Studio display volume, control bluetooth keyboard brightness. So i find out the brightness control key only can control my macbook screen even i closed lid. im still able to control the brightness manually in setting.

Is this a bug? or is designed like this?

Try holding down control(^) while activating the brightness keys on the keyboard.

Thanks! For years, I had to use the controls on the side of the monitor,

but this morning, the cat walked on my keyboard and suddenly it got brighter.

"HEY! How did you do that?"

Now, I know...

The page you linked to doesn't describe anything about the brightness as far as I can tell. Why is this by design, its very strange that suddenly with this new and expensive Apple display the brightness keys on your Apple keyboard don't change the brightness...

Sometimes I can't help but roll my eyes at those folk in Cupertino 🙄 Is it that they they think we're too dumb to even control our own screen brightness now? Or that they're so smart we'd never want to?
