Not getting text message notifications

I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 16.4.1 and whenever I get a text message I do not hear a sound nor does the screen light up. The notification is there I just don't get any pulse, not on my phone and also not on my Apple Watch. The notification settings for the 'Messages' app are maxed out.

Hi iTomaz,

Perhaps we can isolate this a bit further. Does this happen for iMessage (blue) as well as for SMS (green) or impact a particular message type? If you try using the same tones for other alert types, what happens there? For example, try setting this as your mail tone from Settings > Notifications > Mail.

Since you also mentioned an Apple Watch, the following information from Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support helps explain when and where notifications should be available.

"If your iPhone is unlocked, you get notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch.

If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked."

All the best.

Hey iTomaz,

We'll be happy to help with the text message notifications that you are not receiving. Just to confirm, if you change the notification to be a different audio sound, does it make work then? Sometimes the issue can be isolated to the sound file itself. You will change the text tone as outlined here: Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Change your ringtone

  1. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
  2. Under Sounds and Haptic Patterns, tap the sound that you want to change.
  3. Tap a ringtone or alert tone to hear it and set it as the new sound."
