My AirPods automatically connect to new devices when they are already connected to a different device. I have seen the forums where you need to select the “when last connected” option to fix this, but I am not seeing this option in settings when connected under the information button for AirPods.

This feature is called “automatic switching” and must be changed on the device you are connecting your AirPods with. The article you previously referenced, Switch your AirPods to another device, shows which settings on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or Apple TV you can change to disable this feature.
