My Apple TV model a1842 64gb restarts without warning.
tvOS 16.4.1 (20L498)
Shows HDR block in upper right corner when it restarts.
it had been doing it quite often but stopped for many months. Now it is starting to do it again.
Tv is LG running
software version 5.30.25

I find it appalling that this issue has been around for years and Apple has done nothing to address. Discussion boards are full of the same issue going back to 2019. There's no pattern to it, no way to troubleshoot. At least I'll stop wasting my money on new high speed hdmi cables.
Either the HDMI connection signal is interrupted for hardware reasons (ports, plugs, or internal cable damage);
or the signal itself causes an interruption (e.g. change in resolution, frame rate, or dynamic range).
How long it takes for the TV to adjust for the latter, that depends on the model TV. Higher end modern TVs with QMS should adjust near instantly. TVs without that function may need a second or two.
Programs with in-stream ads are known to have this signal change that may cause short blackouts.
The change in the HDMI signal can be avoided by setting a fixed video signal (Match content off).
Do you lose only the HDMI connection, or does the box do a full reboot with flashing status light and all?
It does not do a full reboot. Seems to only lose hdmi connection. Just started again the last few days.
