Apple TV IS Connected to Internet but Netflix and other apps say it is not

Our 4K AppleTV is connected to the internet through an ethernet cable. The house IS connected to the internet and confirmed 100%.

The AppleTV menu says it is connected to the internet through ethernet cable and we have updated the software and viewed AppleTV+ programming.

However, Netflix, HBO, and Amazon+ apps do not work and all report that the AppleTV IS NOT connected to the internet.

At this point we have:

  • Restarted the modem/router
  • Restarted the AppleTV
  • Unplugged the AppleTV

None of this corrects the internet connection issue with the non-Apple apps.

Any suggestions on something we have missed?

BTW...all of this worked 24 hours ago...so this is a recent thing.

Many thanks!

Hi Gersonic,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! To isolate the issue, if you connect your Apple TV to your Wi-Fi network, do you get the same results? To connect to Wi-Fi, please follow the steps below:

Change network settings on Apple TV

If you initially set up Apple TV using a wired network, you can change to a wireless network without having to set up Apple TV again.
Note: Ethernet is not available on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) Wi-Fi.
1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from Apple TV.
2. Open Settings  on Apple TV.
3. Select Network, then select Wi-Fi and choose an available network.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.
