Apple watch not getting incoming calls when away from phone?

Is your Apple Watch connected with a cellular plan?

If you don't have a cellular plan or cellular Apple Watch, you won't be able to get calls away from your iPhone unless your Apple Watch is connected to Wi-Fi.

You could test making a call from your Apple Watch when you're away from your iPhone:

So the issue is only with incoming calls, the outgoing ones are working fine. Thanks for those details.

You'll want to try unpairing and re-pairing the watch with the phone:

1. Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone close together as you unpair them.

2. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

3. Go to the My Watch tab and tap All Watches.

4. Tap the info button  next to the watch that you want to unpair. 

5. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.

6. Tap Unpair [your Apple Watch name].

7. For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep your cellular plan. 

8. Type your Apple ID password to disable Activation Lock, then tap Unpair.

After it has finished unpairing, just reopen the Watch app on the phone and follow the steps to pair it again.
