Volume in HomePod in Classical app
In Apple Classical, I can’t control volume from my iPhone when using HomePod as the audio output like I can in Apple Music. There’s no slider control visible.

Noticed this issue within seconds of downloading the app. Volume control remains useless after upgrading iPhone 14 Pro Max to iOS 16.4, streaming to either two sets of ORIGINAL HomePod pairs, both sets also on 16.4. Volume controls are instantly available after switching back to the iPhone speakers, OR when streaming to first gen Apple AirPods or AirPod Pros. However, volume controls are active only if streaming to BOTH HomePod pairs (i.e., Living Room AND Bedroom, in my case) simultaneously, when tapping on the combined two pairs in the AirPlay popup menu. Stunning this bug was somehow overlooked.
The only equipment that shows the volume control are my AirPod pros and my iPhone 13pro. On my Naim streamer and HomePod the volume controller is non-functional.
Hopefully, Apple will do a fix of this problem on the next iOS upgrade.
I'm having the same issue (iPhone 13pro). Can't find anyone/anywhere where this is being addressed.
I have spent some time trying different fixes.
Glad to know it's a bug.
I have the same issue. Volume slider and time slider are greyed out. I can only adjust the volume by sliding down control panel or from Lock Screen.
Me too
Same here
To get volume slider you have to lock your phone tap the screen and it will be on the Lock Screen display
