After updating I can no longer select non-contiguous text

Once I updated to the latest OS for my Mac I found that in TextEdit I can now for some reason no longer use the command key to select non-contiguous text and I have no clue why that is. Does anybody have any idea or is it something I need to enable? I would really like to know since I am confused and annoyed. Why was the feature removed?

Running a Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68).

Just attempting use the Command key to choose non-continuous text

It does not work here either.

Perhaps you what to refer to another similar question pertaining to TextEdit and " non-continuous text " selection
