iPhone 14 pro max hangs up suddenly and more!

I just want to say that this is my first iPhone as I have been an Android user for a very long time and this is something that I do not really understand what is happening.

I will start with my phone dropping calls after anywhere from five minutes to 30 minutes. There will also be times when I try to make a call and it will say dialing, but there is nothing happening (no ringing). After a short bit it will say call failed. If I try to make a call right after, it wont even bother calling it will just say call failed. I wont be able to make a face time call to my wife because it acts like the other device does not have the ability when in fact hers is an iPhone 13. If I restart the phone, things will start to work again for at least a few hours before it's back to the same ol' thing. I have looked up this and found that others with the 14 Pro Max experience the same issue and not just on Verizon, so it's not a carrier issue.

The other thing that just happened today (3/14) was when I tried to make a call, it did the call failed as described above. I tried consecutively to make a call in frustration and on the third attempt it actually dialed and the person I was trying to call picked up. About 20 seconds into the call it hung up. He tried to call me back and the screen came up to the typical pickup or ignore screen with their name at the top. I hit the pickup icon and it briefly went to the screen showing his name and immediately went back to the ignore or pickup screen and rang. It did this four times before he gave up the call and texted me instead. I restarted my phone and it once again it began to work.

I went to my carrier prior to the second instance above happening and they told me to bring it to the apple store to check it. I did and they ran the full diagnostics on it which came back showing the phone is fine. They said to go to my carrier and have my number re-provisioned which I did. It continues to have issues and now the newest thing with the pickup and going back to ringing with the option to answer happened today.

I am trying to not regret my decision of changing manufacturer but LG no longer makes phones (which is what I was using, LG V60) and I don't really care for the Samsung. I decided to make the change because my wife has an iPhone now and figured it would make things a little easier and we could now face time. At this point, it is either get some help from the community that knows more about these devices than I or march into the Apple store and demand it be replaced because all that was suggested has been done and it still doesn't work properly. To note, I work in IT so technology is nothing new to me but the Apple Eco system is.

Any suggestions, guidance, or even voodoo will be appreciated,

Frustrated first time iPhone user.

Thanks, but as I’ve stated I’ve done everything from getting the device checked out by Apple to getting the number reprovisioned by my carrier. Also, I shouldn’t have to restart my phone every couple hours to make sure I can make or receive a call. I don’t pay over a grand for a device that fails to do what it was primarily designed to do which is be a phone.

As for the SIM, this has an eSIM which you cannot replaced.

This seems like your carrier issue, Contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider) The agency who issued the SIM to you.

Call Failed or Dropped Calls / Disconnecting

In telecommunications, a dropped-call / Auto Disconnecting Calls / Call-Failed Muted conversation are mainly due to technical reasons / fault at the carrier's end. At times the calls are cut off before the speaking parties had finished their conversation and before one of them had hung up (dropped calls or Call Failed or Auto Disconnection or muted calls).

Few Reasons Your device Keeps Muting / Dropping / Disconnecting Calls or encounter Call Failed.

  • Your Signal Is Weak.
  • It's Raining (Cats & Dog)
  • The Cell Tower Is Overloaded / Heavy Traffic (Telecommunication)
  • You've Misunderstood Your Signal Strength
  • You are moving and the signal weakens while changing from one tower to another

Mobile brand/model selection is an individual choice based on many parameters. Such as Money, Feature, Status, aesthetics, Utility, User-Friendliness, Availability, Warranty Coverage, Service Support, Resale value, Technology, and many other factors. Choose yours judiciously!
