Mac mail issues - attached jpgs and pngs are automatically embedded into message losing the original file name

If you wish for your jpg/png files not to be embedded, you can send them as an icon by following the steps listed here: Add attachments to emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

You can change how attachments are displayed in the Compose window. To display an attachment (such as a one-page PDF document or an image) as an icon, Control-click the attachment in your message, then choose View as Icon.

Another possible step that worth trying is to compress the image and email the compressed file. Opening it from the receiver's end should still have the original file name. To do this, follow the steps below:

1.) Right click the image.

2.) Select Compress.

3.) Drag compressed file to email and send.
