Turning Off Emergency Alerts

How do you turn off gov't & emergency alerts on an Apple Watch that is set up with Family Sharing? i.e My son's watch is set up on my iPhone, but my iPhone notification settings don't seem to control his watch.

Thanks very much for the reply. Unfortunately, this still doesn't address my issue. The article referenced only applies to Test Alerts, not actual gov't or emergency alerts. I've been unable to find any articles that address those specifically for watches set up with Family Sharing.

Hello EOh217,

We have a great support article that might help with this. Please take a look at it here: About government and emergency alerts on Apple Watch - Apple Support. This specific guidance should help:

"Turn on Test Alerts for an Apple Watch you set up for a family member

If you set up an Apple Watch for a family member using Family Setup, you can use your iPhone to turn on Test Alerts for their watch:

      1. Make sure that the Apple Watch has the latest version of watchOS. For these steps, you need watchOS 8.4 or later.
      2. On the iPhone that you used to set up the Apple Watch, download the Test Alerts profile:
      3. Test Alerts profile
      4. Tap Allow. If you're asked to choose the device that you want to install the profile on, choose Apple Watch.
      5. Open the Settings app, then tap Profile Downloaded.
      6. Tap Install. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish installing the profile.
      7. After the profile is installed, on the Apple Watch, go to Settings > Notifications.
      8. Turn on Test Alerts.

To turn Test Alerts off, either:

      • Go to Settings > Notifications and turn off Test Alerts.
      • Go to Settings > General > Device Management and remove the profile."

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.
