Contacting my son

How do I fix it to where I can text and call my son? He can receive calls and text from other numbers. I can call and text other numbers. He can call and text me but when I go to respond, my messages and phone calls never go through, neither one of us has the other blocked. What do I need to do/fix to fix this.
