Downtime communication

My child’s phone won’t allow calls or texts to be made or recieved on downtime even though it’s set for certain people to be able to be contacted. In an emergency over downtime he cannot use his phone. How do I fix this?

He can call and text me but when I go to respond, my messages and phone calls never go through, neither one of us has the other blocked. What do I need to do/fix to fix this.

Communication Limits Not Working to Block Texts or Calls at Downtime I have communication limits set to only allow my son to comminicate with his father and I during downtime (Specific Contact). Despite this he is able to text with any and all of his contacts during Downtime for an unlimited amount of time. I have also set the time limit for texting to one minute. None the less, he is able to text as much as he wants. I have deleted and re-added the time limit. I have adjusted the hours of downtime. I have the device set to block at downtime. We are both running ISO 18.1.1 Nothing has fixed this problem.

Cannot call my child’s phone I recently got my 13 year old twins iPhones. The set up appears to be the same but I cannot call one of my daughter’s phones. I am set up as her emergency contact and one of her downtime contacts. I have confirmed all of her settings and my number is not blocked on her phone but I get the message “The person you are calling cannot accept calls at this time.” Please help!

Set communication limits

Go to Settings > Screen Time, then turn on Screen Time if you haven't already. Tap Communication Limits, tap During Screen Time, then select one of the following for communication at all times (other than downtime): Contacts Only: To allow communication only with your contacts.
