Speakerphone randomly turns off

My iPhone SE 2020 will not stay on speaker phone ever since the update to 16.3.1.

I can't even use the keypad to navigate option menus because of the speaker dropping out.

Checked for updates, all good. Restarted phone, still doing it. I'm not switching between other apps or anything, it can just be sitting on the desk and I'll see the speaker turn off. IT'S USELESS after ONLY 3 MONTHS OF USE

Thanks! It seems to of worked. I called my android and put the iPhone on speaker and for five minutes I either let it sit or talked into one phone or the other and it didn't switch off.

i'll try a longer test later on but before it wasn't even going 2 minutes before it would drop then turn back on and drop at least once. It even started just turning the speaker on when I was answering it normally.

fingers crossed that it actually is fixed, thank you so much! Hopefully I won't have to come back and say "oh no it didn't fix it after all" LOL

Hi Sikkitty.

I had the same problem with 2 of our iPhone SE 2020s in my family back towards the end of February.

Apple Support had me do a reset Network settings, but it did not resolve the issue on either.

I went into Settings and did a Reset All settings, and that did not work either.

Now it is resolved, but only after performing a DFU restore on both iPhones. Just wanted to get the word out to other users. I see this on other threads here in the community also affecting some other iPhone models.

Best regards,

Bill from Massachusetts.
