SMB problem

Hi,

After updating to Ventura, the company's smb shares I connect to show an anormal behavior: file saving is often refused by an error saying that there is no permission to save respectively the file is open. This happens most on Microsoft Office files. Only deconnecting and reconnecting the share helps.

Any ideas?

Hi there loadamasta,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

Based on what you've described, we would recommend seeing if the same behavior occurs in a new user. This will allow us to isolate potential conflicts specific to your user account that may be causing a conflict: Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support.

If the behavior occurs there, see if it occurs in safe mode. Safe mode will do a couple of things to help us isolate and troubleshoot. First, during boot, safe mode runs a check of your startup disk and makes repairs as needed and where possible. Then, once it's booted, safe mode will also disable certain software and processes that may be causing a conflict. To learn more about using safe mode, including how to boot to it, how it can help, and what to do with your findings: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support.

Don't hesitate to respond back if you still need help.

Best!
