Files connect to SMB share shows error “Invalid Argument”

In the Files app, when connecting to a network location.

Why do i get “invalid argument” when trying to connect to my SMB share?

This error is not helpful.

If i mistype the username, i get the message that my credentials are wrong, so there is a connection being made. Thats the least it could have told me.

A similar public share but different folder without a user specified works already, its the same devices.

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Hello BeHydrated9186,

This article offers more information about using the Files app with an iOS device: Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. One thing to note from the article: "Password-protected zip folders or directories are not supported in the Files app."

Are you attempting to access something on your SMB Share that would require that type of login? If so, that would explain why it is not working as expected.

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.
