Family Sharing for Calendar Events Keeps Changing the Organizer

Hi,

I started family sharing and invited my wife and kids to it. Recently, Apple Calendar events that my wife created (i.e., organizer) changes to me becoming the organizer when I do something as simple as viewing the event or even just acknowledging it by clicking "OK" when I see it in my Calendar inbox.

What happens then is that my wife changes to an invitee rather than the organizer. Consequently, she's unable to make any changes to the Calendar Event (again that SHE is the organizer/creator for originally).

This started happening just 1-2 weeks ago. We're both on the latest version 16.3.1. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, been able to stop this from happening?

Hello SilentH_2023,

It sounds like you're having issues with the Calendar app and Family Sharing.

This could be related to the Calendar that this event is tied to specifically. To make sure we're on the same page, are you sharing this Calendar between your wife and yourself? Is your wife adding the event to the correct shared Calendar?

Check out the following related information: Share iCloud calendars on iPhone - Apple Support

Share an iCloud calendar

You can choose to share a calendar with one or more people in iCloud. Those you invite receive an invitation to join the calendar.
1. Tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the Info button next to the iCloud calendar you want to share.
3. Tap Add Person, then enter a name or email address, or tap the Add button to browse your contacts.
4. Note: Your contacts must have an email address to share an iCloud calendar. See Add and use contact information on iPhone.
5. Tap Add.

Change a person’s access to a shared calendar

After you invite a person to share your calendar, you can turn on or off their ability to edit the calendar, or stop sharing the calendar with that person.
1. Tap Calendars, tap the Info button next to the shared calendar, then tap the person’s name.
2. Do any of the following:
* Turn on or off Allow Editing.
* Tap Stop Sharing.

Share a read-only calendar with anyone

1. Tap Calendars, then tap the Info button next to the iCloud calendar you want to share.
2. Turn on Public Calendar, then tap Share Link to copy or send the URL for your calendar.
3. Choose a method for sending the URL—Messages, Mail, and so on.
Anyone you send the URL to can use it to subscribe to the calendar using a compatible app, such as Calendar for macOS.

If the event wasn't shared under the correct shared calendar, then it may not allow your wife to edit the event. Could it be a read-only calendar? That means it can only be read, but not edited.

Let us know if that helps out or not.

Take care.
