M2 Mac mini screen static when waking up the screen

I have a 2023 Mac mini M2 with an Acer K242Y monitor. The display is set to turn off at 20 minutes. Occasionally the screen will be all static when the display is restored via keypress or mouse motion. If I press the power button on the back to sleep then restore the display, the display seems to reliably come back normally.

I saw other posts stating to use a HDMI premium 4K display cable, so I replaced my 6-foot cable with a 1-foot 4K premium cable (checked the hologram using the HDMI app and it checked out as genuine) but the problem persists.

Anybody else? I'm about to take it in to an Apple Store for diagnosis/repair/replacement as this is clearly not desired operation.

Exactly the same intermittent issue here too. I've just resorted to unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in again to restore the picture.

Along with the malfunctioning Wi-Fi on this Mac mini M2 it's rather disappointing.

Since the problem occurs randomly, an Apple Store visit won’t get you a solution.

IMO, best to live with it as the chances of getting a resolution are zero. Apple’s interest in HDMI is reluctant, minimal, basic. Pursuing “small” problems like these with them is a complete waste of time.

That said, In my case, I have the monitor plugged in to a dedicated outlet that allows yanking at will. I haven’t had a yank that hasn’t worked. Muttering expletives while yanking optional. Either way, it’s the best feel-good fix there is! 🍻

This has been a macOS problem for some time now and I occasionally get the same thing from the HDMI output ports on my Mac mini's running dual displays.
