HomeKit not working when Away from home

HomeKit works when I’m on my Wi-Fi, but not when I’m on cellular data.

I recently went out of the country and since I got back it hasn’t been working. I also got my new phone 14 Pro Max the day before I left and am not sure if it was working on the new one when away. All my setting and cellular permissions are enabled and I can’t figure out why it’s not working on cellular data. Help please.

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16

Hi WesTheRocketman,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities!

We see you're having an issue with accessing your Home automations when away from home, and we'd like to do what we can to help out.

Verify that your iPhone has the Home app enabled at Settings > Cellular, and that Cellular Data is enabled also.

You'll also need to keep the device that you use for the home hub at your home and connected to Wi-Fi, as shown here: Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub

Next, when your Home app is not responding, are you able to access the internet successfully? If not, contact your cellular provider.

If so, and everything is set up correctly, we recommend that you contact Apple Support directly so that they can work with you to find a solution.

You can reach them by clicking here: Apple Support or calling the most local number in your region: Contact Apple for support and service

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
