Mac Studio USB problems

Hi,

I have a base model of the Mac Studio, and I have some issues with USB devices. Some of the devices work without any problem, while others stutter.

For example:

  1. I bought a Logitech Lift mouse, and I use their Bolt receiver. Mouse stutters all the time, even if I plug it directly into the USB-A port. I also have three type-c dongles. What I find the most interesting is that with two dongles, the mouse stutters, but the third works perfectly.
  2. Today, I received a USB microphone - Rode NT-USB mini. Most of the time, recorded sound is OK, but there are parts of the recording when my voice is very robotic. Again, the same issue happens when I plug it into the USB-A port or with the bad dongles. The third dongle records audio without any problems.

I don't understand why it only works with one dongle. I would expect it to work with a USB-A port, but no.

When using the mouse, something is really interesting. If I use the "bad" dongle and cover the receiver with my hand, the mouse stops working. If I use the "good" dongle and cover the receiver with my hand, the mouse works without any issues. Maybe a power problem? But again, one dongle works :)

I also have a Macbook pro 13" 2018 which doesn't have any issues.

I hope it is understandable.

Thank you

Best regards, Matic

Get one or two more of those USB-C to USB-A adapter that work.

USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple

I suspect that there is not enough power at the USB-A ports for some of those devices. The same may also be true of inferior USB-C to USB-A adapters. To check, go to Apple > About this Mac > System Report... > USB and check to see what Current Available (mA) is for the devices that are connected to the USB-A port.

Thank you. I hope that buying more adapters is not the only solution :) I checked System reports which show enough power:
