homepod mini consumes 100% wifi bandwidth

my wifi network occasionally locks up - no throughput. a call to service provider indicates they system is working and modem is receiving. every time this has happened, if i unplug my homepod mini, the wifi works again. it is as if the homepod seizes all the bandwidth. when this happens, i am not streaming or otherwise using the homepod. i have reset and reinstalled the homepod several times, and still the wifi glitch will recur.

Hello geniusplaylists,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are having an issue with Wi-Fi that seems to be related to your HomePod based on the good isolation and troubleshooting steps you listed. At this point, please make sure you have the recommended Wi-Fi settings from Apple: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

And then contact Apple directly to have them investigate this further: Apple Support

Cheers!
