iPhone settings for EarPods?

iPhone 13pro, iOS 16.1.1 Is there a setting I'm missing? I use Apple Wired EarPods with Lightning Connector

but lately the pause on the microphone will not work. I bought a new pair but same issue. I use the pause on the microphone to interrupt any audio I am listening to. Never a problem until a month or so ago. suggestions?

Turn off voice control for apple earpods (wired headphones)? How do i disable voice control from activating when pressing and holding the middle button on the Apple earpods? There seems to be no setting for deactivating voice control from headphones. The issue seems to be the same that many others have with wireless headphones. I do not want to use voice control ever, and have hence deactivated it from all the settings I have managed to find. The side button on the phone is not an issue, that one is deactivated. The issue should be easilly testable. Just plug in the apple earpods to your iphone, press and hold the middle button on the headphones, and voice control activates. Please let me know if there is a setting to deactivate this, or confirm that there is no way to deactivate. This is very frustrating as this causes me to randomly call people in my address book.

AirPods Pro microphone delay Like so many others I see having this problem a few years ago, the microphone on my AirPods Pros were delaying recording for a few seconds, and sometimes sounding very muffled. Then it would sound normal as long as I was talking fairly loudly. If I stopped, it would delay recording again. I have seen no solutions, and Apple support did not help. I tried everything recommended from resetting my air pods, updating OS etc., but no change. I switched to a wired Apple ear buds, thinking that would solve it, but it didn't! So this must be a problem with with my iPhone 8+. No? If I switch to speaking directly into the phone, no problem. Any solutions out there? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

If your EarPods are not working as expected, see If your headphones don't work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

"If your microphone doesn't work

Make sure that your headphones have a built-in microphone.
Check your microphone for blockage, like debris, lint, or plastic packaging.
To see if you need a replacement, try a second pair of headphones. If the second pair works, contact the manufacturer of the initial pair and ask if you need a replacement. If the second pair doesn't work, contact Apple Support."
