Connect Dell S3422DWG and Mac Mini M1 2020

I've just ordered this Dell S3422DWG for my Mac Mini to replace my pretty old monitor, which I connect to using HDMI. I was first thinking to go old school and use HDMI with the new monitor too, but then read about how others benefit from charging via USB-C and it seems like the refresh rate will be higher with display port... So the connectivity options I'm getting with this monitor are:

  • 2 x HDMI
  • DisplayPort 1.4
  • USB 3.2 Gen 1 upstream
  • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 downstream
  • USB 3.2 Gen 1 downstream with Battery Charging 1.2

Is USB 3.2 the same as the USB/Thunderbolt ports on my MacMini? Will they connect? Will the monitor give enough power for the macmini to run?

Am I better off using DisplayPort via the USB-C to DisplayPort adaptor? Or just stick to HDMI?

Thanks!

Mac mini, macOS 13.0
