Connecting Dell U2412M monitor to MacBook Air M1 (2020)

I have tried various cables to connect this Dell monitor previously used with a Dell laptop to my wife's MacBook Air M1 running macOS 12.6.2. The display app in the Mac OS settings panel does not see the Dell external monitor when connected by an HDMI cable plugged into an Anker hub connected to the USB-C port of the MBA and connected with a display port cable plugged into the display port of the monitor. Has anyone successfully used a Dell U2412M monitor with a MacBook Air? If so what cable did you use? Which operating system? I am thinking of upgrading her to Ventura. Also is there a display driver or firmware upgrade needed. Dell support directs me to Apple support.

Use Non-4K HDMI:

Apparently, this is not 4K. So, try using a HDMI cable that is not 4K.

Can you please let me know if this works? I have a Macbook air and got this SAME monitor for my birthday.. Nothings working! i've tried lots of different cables and hubs but it still doesn't recognize the computer. I just want to know if USBC to display port works.

I tried using a variety of Cables and none worked when connected to display port of the monitor. The only thing that worked was when I used a DVI-D adapter to connect to the monitor. Surprisingly this phenomenon happens only with an M1 processor and the previous versions work well. I was looking for possible reasons for this phenomenon when I came across this question.
