Notes face ID and password not working

neither my Face ID or password is working for my locked notes. I have had no issues before but for some reason when I go to unlock one of my locked notes it immediately asks for the password without trying Face ID and when I type in the password (which I’m sure is correct because even the hint it gives you indicates that I am typing in the right password) it says that it’s incorrect.

I have tried switching Face ID off and on in settings, resetting my password and restarting my phone and nothing seems to be working.

has anyone had a similar issue? Or knows ways to fix this? I have important things I need in those locked notes

Hello n3ave,

To confirm, are these notes syncing to your iCloud account? If so, to isolate the issue, let's test and see if you're able to open these notes using that same password on the iCloud website. View notes and locked notes on iCloud.com will walk you through that.

"In Notes on iCloud.com, do either of the following:

View locked notes: Select a locked note in the list, then enter the password you created for locked notes.
After you enter the password for one locked note, you can view other locked notes without reentering the password. The notes are locked again after a period of inactivity or when you close the browser window."

If you're able to unlock and view the notes on the iCloud website, this would indicate a possible software issue with the iPhone you're accessing them from, so we'll want to check for any available iOS update. Update iOS on iPhone will guide you through backing up and updating.
