I have Firefox set as my default browser in System Preferences. However, when I open a URL shortcut from my desktop, it opens with Safari. I have done right-click > Get Info > click padlock > enter password...but the "Open with" option is greyed out and can't be changed.
I have not changed any pertinent settings recently. This is a new issue since I updated Ventura to 13.1 a few days ago. Any suggestions?
FWIW, that is the default behavior for Ventura. Whether it's a bug or purposeful I can't say. What you can do is right or control click on a .webloc file and chose Open With and select the browser of your choice.
I appreciate the reply. Yes, I could always right click and choose Open With..., but until this recent update, a desktop shortcut would just simply open with my default browser.
I can't figure out why this changed, and I really can't figure out why the option to change this behavior is greyed out.
As I mentioned, it's either something Apple changed in Ventura or a bug. You can send Apple feedback if you like.
