Slide-to-type frustrations and/andy

Hi all,

I'm having a problem, and have no idea how to fix it. If anyone can shine any light on a solution, I'd be VERY grateful.

I use slide-to-type (sometimes called swipe) when typing on my iPhone 13 (16.1.2).

Lately it's started suggesting "Andy" when I slide-to-type "and".

I have no idea why it's suggesting that, instead of the most common word in the English language, I want the name "Andy".

Initially, I thought it might have been my careless sliding, but I've done it several times incredibly carefully and (sorry, Andy) I still get "Andy".

Can anyone help? It's driving me loopy.

Hello thomashayes,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you. You may want to try resetting the keyboard dictionary to see if that helps clear this up. You'll find full details are provided here: Save keystrokes with text replacements on iPhone - Apple Support.

Reset your personal dictionary
1. Go to Settings  > General > Reset.

2. Tap Reset Keyboard Dictionary.

All custom words and shortcuts are deleted, and the keyboard dictionary returns to its default state.

If that doesn't help, try disabling predictive text, restart your iPhone, and then re-enable.

Hope this helps!

Best regards.
