I’m trying to shrink my backup but nothing seems to be working. It says my next backup will be +1.35GB even though I deselected all apps and now have nothing selected for back up. I also deleted the backup to try to start from zero, but nothing seems to reduce the back up size. Any ideas on what to do?

Are you backing up to iCloud? Or, to a computer? Your apps are not backed up in iCloud, just the data from the apps. If you use iCloud that data is not backed up as it syncs. But, if you disable iCloud, the data is backed up again. Eg. iCloud Photos, if enabled, will not back up in the backup file as they are already in iCloud. If you disable iCloud Photos, the photos then back up as part of the device backup. The net result is that the same space is used.

You can manage your backup size from Settings on your iPhone.
Here you should see all apps that are being backed up and be able to disabled them.

If this information is not updating, you can try restarting your iPhone. That step is known to help when we encounter unexpected issues with our devices.
1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider and wait about 30 seconds.
3. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears to power it back on. Once back on, test to see if this continues.
