Hi-Res Lossless music not played over hi-fi stereo amplifier

I've set up Apple Music on my iPhone 12 to play hi-res lossless music when streaming over wi-fi and I've connected the device to my Denon hi-fi stereo amplifier connecting the digital AV to lightning cable to HDMI port on it.

Although the Dolby Atmos and Lossless features are perfectly working, Hi-Res Lossless symbol doesn't appear when I play this music, although my hi-fi stereo amplifier clearly has a built-in DAC which should be recognized as external by the app.

What am I missing?

Thank you in advance

Hello joeroberts13,

We understand that your not seeing indication of music in Hi-Res Lossless when streaming music on your iPhone. Listen to lossless music on iPhone provides some details that may help us isolate the behavior.

"The audio quality of streamed music depends on song availability, network conditions, and the capability of connected headphones or speakers."

Based on this, we have a few questions for you. Does this occur on multiple networks and with multiple songs? What happens when you connect headphones instead of your stereo?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards.

Hi racheals14 and thank you for your reply,

Regarding your first question, it happens with latest Springsteen album and many others.

As per your second question, when I'm not connected to the Hi-Fi Stereo, I listen music using Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones via bluetooth thus, since no external DAC is available, I guess it's correct that I only see the lossless symbol, although I've allowed the Hi-Res Lossless streaming.

Thank you again for your support
